So not too long ago in a galaxy far away I was sent this amazing box full of crafty supplies from Elmer's...check it dudes!
It was loaded with a whole bunch of ah-mazing craft supplies that I couldn't resist opening it right up and rolling around in it...okay maybe not so much rolling around in it (hey now, I am 8 months preggers!) as oohing and ahhing over all the nifty things that I kept pulling out of it one by one. Seriously, look at everything...
A crafters' heaven on earth! Well, right away my eyes jumped to the Designer Masking Tape...which is made out of washi tape by the way...and all the pretty prints and colors I saw...I couldn't resist. So today I'm going to show you how to make yourself a nifty Scrapbook Covered Composition Notebook using a this neat-o tape and few other sweet supplies from Elmer's. So easy and simple and hey, perfect for Mother's Day (ahem, that is next Sunday by the way...you've got 7 days to make that perfect sweet gift for a momma you know!)
If you want to see me make one of these via video just skip down to the end of this post! You get to hear my voice (do I really sound like that!?) and see my baby belly too! Can you believe I only have 7 weeks to go!!! Don't mind my children yelping in the background either, they come free with tutorial, lol! :-)
Scrapbook Covered Composition Notebook
Composition notebook
Scrapbook paper (at least 2 sheets per notebook)
First grab your Designer Masking Tape, don't you just love the black? It is so different, you never see black washi tape out there!
Then cover just the black binding of the composition notebook with it. The Designer Masking Tape is re-stickable so you can move it around if you need to match up the design and you didn't do so on your first try like me! It's okay if you cut your pieces longer than the binding too, just use your x-acto knife and cut away the excess...easy peasy!
Next, place a piece of scrapbook paper on your self-healing mat right side down. Put your composition book over top (right side down as well) making sure to place the scrapbook paper right up against the black binding. Using your x-acto knife, just cut around the cover until you have a scrapbook paper that matches the remaining uncovered part of your composition notebook. Trim away any excess scrapbook paper if you didn't do it perfectly!
Then grab you Elmer's Craft Bond All Purpose Glue Stick and rub it all over the back part of your scrapbook paper. Making sure to cover the entire backside! This glue sticks rocks, it has a super fast bond and is perfect for crafty paper projects...plus it is archival safe, acid-free, photo-safe and non-toxic...woot!
Flip your well-glue-sticked scrapbook paper piece on top of your composition notebook and press it down, firmly, all over. Repeat this same process with the backside of your composition notebook and voila you are done!
One super cute and personalized composition notebook ready for the giving!
Ahh, I love that designer masking tape!
Feel free to check out the handy dandy video I made for y'all. Just no laughing, okay!
